How can you tell if an algae is going sexual?

The color will usually fade a fair bit and/or the algae will die back rather fast... Not always but it's a good indication. Keeping the calerpa pruned weekly will help in preventing this. Non caulerpa species will not spore the water... What kind of macro?

Do you have any pics? Any thing changing in your aquarium? What makes you think it is going asexual? Pruning weekly/biweekly and Adding Iron also keeps mine from going asexual
