New Hammer Coral
I purchased a Hamer Coral on the 19th. Placed it in my tank on the bottom. It's tenticals have not come out yet. Is this normal? The [acronym:ee6898b442="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:ee6898b442] briefly exposed it to air, could that be a problem? I can still see the tenticals in the body, but the don't extend out.
Tank: 75G 6.4WPG [acronym:ee6898b442="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:ee6898b442]&[acronym:ee6898b442="Very high output fluorescent"]VHO[/acronym:ee6898b442] 18.5 GP/h flow anything else you need to know? |

My guess other than that is most likely water flow. Generally speaking, most [acronym:560f14d4c7="Large polyped Scleractinian (stoney) coral"]LPS[/acronym:560f14d4c7] corals like the flow on the lower side. If flow is too high in a given area, the flow can cause the coral severe stress and the flesh to recede away from the skelaton. Exsposing this species of coral to air is not a concern for short periods. As long as it was handled properly and no pressure placed on the septa piercing the fleshy polyps, it should not be an issue. Cheers Steve |

The only ones that I know you cant expose to air are Sponges. There might be others but this one I know. Have a good day
