Overflow Box

Well my new stand is done so i finally get to use my new sump. Now i have everything ready all i need to know is about the overflow box.

It is a U-Tube overflow box. Now we built the durso in the box. Now how to i get the overflow box started. Do i have to prime it or anything? Help help appreciaited.

Fill both the front box and the back box with water, as well as the sump and tank Use a piece of airline tubing, stick it in the U-tube up to the apex, put the other end in your mouth and suck the air out. Put your tongue over the end of the airline tubing to prevent the air from being pulled back into the tube and pull the air line out of the U-tube. Usually one strong suck onto the airline tubing gets it going. Look for any air bubbles trapped in the U-tube and tap the U-tube up and down slightly to get them to travel out. (This part should be done with the pump on)

ok but i need to do the airline tubing part with the pump off or on?

You can do it either way, but if you do it with the pumps on...do it quick If you do it properly with the pumps off...you will know if it's going to hold it's siphon if the power cuts off.
