pods

ok since upgrading to a 75, ive add'ed 50lbs of liverock, 60lbs of live sand. IT's been about two monthes i have not seen any [acronym:d27d659e70="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:d27d659e70] at all. All my rock is from different stores so i have a variety, what could my problem be. Do these fish eat [acronym:d27d659e70="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:d27d659e70] two percs, coral beuty, blue tang and hawkfish. and is there a place on the internet to find out how to produce them, or buy them. [acronym:d27d659e70="Thanks in Advance"]tia[/acronym:d27d659e70]

Have you taken a flashlight and checked your tank several hours after all lights have been shut off? You may be surprised at what you find. There are places to buy [acronym:b92b37d4f7="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:b92b37d4f7] and such online if you still feel you need to.

Do you still have the mandarin goby listed in your profile? Just about any fish/inverts can go after [acronym:d2c708d264="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:d2c708d264] if they are so inclined but you don’t have any listed that primarily go for them besides the mandarin in your profile. Breading or even maintaining [acronym:d2c708d264="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:d2c708d264] in the main can be difficult. It would be better to do it in a refugium without predators.

You can buy them from the following if you need/want to jump start your tank.

Sorry to hear about the mandarin As long as you don’t plan on getting another one or one that does eat [acronym:d025c95351="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:d025c95351] I wouldn’t really worry about adding them, they will prorogate on there own in time.

What kind of filtration do you have? I keep my pod population pretty well this way. I have a hang on back tetratec 500 filter(any [acronym:a6eec3067d="Hang On Back"]hob[/acronym:a6eec3067d] will work) and instead of filter media, it is full of live rock rubble. This gives the [acronym:a6eec3067d="copepods, amphipods, etc"]pods[/acronym:a6eec3067d] somewhere safe to breed and they come and go from the intake and overflow. Kinda like a low cost no maintenance refuge.
