powerhead
i have another of my now daily questions.
i have an aquaclear 802 powerhead. can use it on the outside of the tank and run pick up and return hoses back to the tank. i was thinking of just turning it around and hanging it on the back and making a couple of small elbows. i though this might clean up the look of the tank a little. do they need to be in the water to stay cool? one other quick question. i would like to add a small power head like a 301 to turn on for an hour or so 2 - 4 times a day. is there a pump that can withstand turning on and off better than others. what is everyones favorite power head placements and cycles? thanks for my daily does of saltwater knowledge steve r |

Most powerheads are required to be submerged underwater. The instructions or package should mention something.

most people like the Maxi Jet power heads. Cheap and dependable. MAG pumps are a nice bigger pump as well, these can be used both internally and externally.
Just make sure you have enough head height.
