protein skimming - Aquarium Advice

everyone who owns a saltwater reef should have one. in my 30 gal i had a red slime alga problem big time, tryed red slime remover, no work only lowers the p.h and oxygen levels to like 7.6 and oxygen to 1 to nothing. i turned up my protein skimmer to the max and in 2days you could see it turning brown and dieing, within 1 week it was all gone, with no chems at all. i swear by the protein skimmer.( never add chems to a reef tank!) walt

Which skimmer did you use? Saying A skimmer is quite general, this could mean anything from a $20.00 skimmer to a thousand dollar skimmer

it was the prizim upto 90gal. 59.00 on a30gal reef.

Anyone has any info or where to look for in what does the skimmer removes from the water? besides the obvious, of course. :P

Such as medications, etc.

your skimmer removes all impuritys and meds if you dare. also iron,strontium/moly and other trace elements. kent marine makes Essential Elements which i use to replace what my skimmer takes out.
