pump system idea

i was thinking of doing a system that would use a manifold
(1 for scwd 1 for skimmer 1 for filter
was thinking maybe a mag 24
and a backup pump hooked to a manifold
so that the pump would feed all three systems and have only 1 return pipe
(1 intake 1 return through my scwd

any houghts on this
naturally both pumps would not be on at the same time
the backup would be for when i clean the mag 24 or if it breaks down
