Question on a Pump B4 I Purchase?
I am eliminating my 3 powerheads in my [acronym:952ddfc7e2="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:952ddfc7e2] Reef and replacing them with a Mag pump my question is for a 55gal. I heard you should have 2
the tank size of flow. I am looking into the MAG pumps 9.5 which I heard was sufficient but they only put out 950gph. The 12 puts out 1200 [acronym:952ddfc7e2="Gallons per hour"]gph[/acronym:952ddfc7e2]. The pump will have 2 outlets entering my tank eliminating the powerheads. The [acronym:952ddfc7e2="power head or Measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions, depending on context"]PH[/acronym:952ddfc7e2] that is in my Wet Dry sump which returns the filtered water to the tank will remain the same. Before I place this order I want to make sure I purchase the correct pump Thanks. |

If this is for a closed loop, I would probably do a 12. You could always throttle it back or add some more outlets to reduce flow if needed.
