Ace, my understanding of live rock is that you don't have to clean/replace it.

Lando? In a sump, what maintenance on live rock rubble?

I remove my [acronym:d5775fc1bc="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:d5775fc1bc] rubble twice a year so I can clean out my sump. That is it.

Do you remove it and put the same rubble back or put in new rubble?

(We need it spelled out here... well, I do anyway!)

Same rubble. I just put my rubble in a bucket of [acronym:b7f9ff77f3="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:b7f9ff77f3] taken from the tank at water change time. I then rinse out the sump with [acronym:b7f9ff77f3="Freshwater"]FW[/acronym:b7f9ff77f3] and put everything back together and replace the lost water volume with aged and airated [acronym:b7f9ff77f3="Saltwater"]SW[/acronym:b7f9ff77f3].

BillyZ has started an aquarium
lando correct me if i'm wrong...

sdellin, lando pulls out the [acronym:5c306772cc="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:5c306772cc] rubble just so she can remove settled detritus and waste from the bottom of her sump to keep it from building up. The removal of the rubble is really just a convience factor to make the cleaning of the sump easier.

that correct lando?
