Reef Rock
When makeing a reef tank, does all the rock have to be live, or any of it at all? At the [acronym:28b72e0bfb="Local Fish Store"]LFS[/acronym:28b72e0bfb] they sell Lace Rock and its only2.99 a pound. It looks almost identical to Tonga rock except for the fact that it is a bit darker in color. Will corals attach themselves onto this kind of rock?
-Thanks |

i did a 80% baserock from hirocks.com (30 lbs shipped for 48 bucks, less then two bucks a pound) and 20% [acronym:b81260654c="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:b81260654c]. The [acronym:b81260654c="Live rock"]LR[/acronym:b81260654c] will seed the baserock. How big is your tank.

I would get 30 lbs from hirocks.com and then get 10-20 lbs live rock to seed it. Much cheaper if you are willing to wait 6 months for it to built coralline on the base.

Yeah I know. When I started this aquarium I was expecting to spend $6-7,000. $14,000 later there is no end in sight. If there is a end.

I went with the 100% live rock but it was expensive. About 8.99 a poundbut I`m glad I did. Whatever floats the boat
