Shrimp for Cycling shell on or off?

Do I leave them in the shells or remove the shells. Also how many would I need for a 225 gallon tank. Only has base rock in it now. Want to get a cycle started to try and eliminate too much dieoff when I can afford to purchase my liverock from [acronym:0e379a3ec6="Live rock"]lr[/acronym:0e379a3ec6].com.

I dont think it matters if the shell is on or off.
your looking for the dead shrimp to decompose, which it will do no matter what.
