what about this idea..........

I'm going to add a Counter current skimmer to my tank. And thought that I coud just add a "T" in my line from the overflow going to the sump with a ball valve to feed the skimmer. The valve could of course control my skimmer flow...and the excess would just go to the sump.

......................... Does that make sense?...........

I'm sure I saw gravity fed skimmers some where....has anyone tryed this...is it a bad idea? What are the cons to this idea?
