GOLDFISH w/NO Tail - Aquarium Advice

My goldfish got stuck in the filter and his tail ripped off. He's been an a 2 [acronym:dd3bc23044="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:dd3bc23044] hospital tank and has been on melefix for 7 days. His tail is healing but he is still quite inactive. Should I continue medicating or just leave him in the hospital tank until I can see he feels better. Also, will the other fish pick on him when I put in back in the tank?

I would keep medicating til it's completely healed. With no tail, he's gonna be at quite a disadvantage. I doubt he will last long with the other fish. Even without being picked on, the inability to keep up while competing for food is gonna be an issue. And not being able to swim makes him a easy target.

i guess the hospital will be his home. Tell you the truth I think my catfish tried to kill him and he just got sucked up ito the filter!
