Hi Guys,

I bought a new fish tank 3 years ago and it is still in the box, because I can't complete my set.
I'm missing a Co2 Tank and don't know where to get it.
Guard-X said that they do not offer such equipment...
Atelier Bière et Vin Inc. said no too.

Can someone please help me find a Co2 Tank?

Thanks for your time,

David

Does it have to be a particular kind? Paintball co2 cans are used quite a bit

Hi Gboy66

Well from my understanding it has to be atleast Food Grade.
I'm not sure whats inside the Paintball Co2.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Thanks for the link Gboy66

It is quite interesting, but I would need something like 5 or 10 lb.
I would also need to know where to refill it after.. since Guard-x won't do it.

Where do people in Montreal go to get their Co2 Tanks?

It's complicated to have a fish tank :p

Do you have any welding supply stores? That is where I get my tanks and refills.

Yes there's a few, but everytime I tell them its for my fish tank they don't have the equipment for it...

Am I doing it wrong?

Well i dont use pressurized co2, but i paintball. I go to any paintball store to get a fill (its really cheap), and i could even go to places like walmart

Thanks Gboy66,

I guess i'll go for the paintball with the adapter :)

No problem...whatever you do though, dont get addicted to paintball too. 1 addiction (fish) is enough, much less 2!! :)

Interesting link about Co2

CO2 purity (explained)

Never had an issue with the "industrial" CO2 I get. I do a swap whenever I get mine filled (they usually give me one nicer than the one I am returning to them) so I don't think the rust is really a problem. I guess it is possible if you have a really old tank and you let it go really low you could have some issues.

I'm a bit confused why they are saying they do not have the right equipment? As far as I know most, if not all, 5 or 10lb CO2 tanks come with the standard CGA-320 threads on the top. All you need is a compatible regulator to screw onto the tank.

They may not have a regulator that will work for you (or needle valves, bubble counters, etc) but they WILL have a tank that will work. Just ask them what the fitting is on their tanks, I bet it is CGA-320.
