Here are pics of my new derasa clam, named Chowder. I put him in sandy substrate, but I'm concerned that some hermits are digging Chowder up to get at his foot. Anyone else have this problem? How deep into the sand should the clam be buried? Must it always be oriented with the mantle upward toward the light?
