Blue Rimmed Derasa Clam
Ok So I have been waiting and so far this is the best picture that I can get so far.. Getting one clam for my tank makes me start to get a clam addiction.. I just might have found what I want to do with my 29gal tank..

Well For some reason the Clam died today.. RIP
Woke up this Am and he was gapping... Checked for any sort of parasites and none were found.. By this evening his mantle is retracted and seperating away from the shell... I have no Idea why but I am going to get to the bottom of it and resolve the issue and get another after I get my halides.. James |

What's the [acronym:5879eb626d="Alkinity"]alk[/acronym:5879eb626d]/[acronym:5879eb626d="Calcium"]Ca[/acronym:5879eb626d] level at?

[acronym:9d37c167cf="Calcium"]CA[/acronym:9d37c167cf] is at 420 and [acronym:9d37c167cf="Alkalinity"]Alk[/acronym:9d37c167cf] is unknown at this time due to a a bad test kit.. New test kit will be here Thursday... As for pH it is at 8.0 My [acronym:9d37c167cf="Alkinity"]alk[/acronym:9d37c167cf] last time I tested about a week ago was down to 5.0meq/l Waiting on new Salt as well as the Kent salt mixed was 5.0meq/l.. I bumped the [acronym:9d37c167cf="Calcium"]CA[/acronym:9d37c167cf] after the last [acronym:9d37c167cf="Alkinity"]ALK[/acronym:9d37c167cf] test to about 430 from 380 to help lower the [acronym:9d37c167cf="Alkinity"]ALK[/acronym:9d37c167cf]... No place stocks any decent test kits around here so the all have to be mail order.. Kent dominates the market on supplies as well...
[acronym:9d37c167cf="Thanks in Advance"]TIA[/acronym:9d37c167cf], James |

Sorry about the clam [acronym:5b33634318="By the way"]BTW[/acronym:5b33634318].
The reason I asked is the mantle pulling away like that will usually be from a high [acronym:5b33634318="Calcium"]Ca[/acronym:5b33634318] low [acronym:5b33634318="Alkinity"]alk[/acronym:5b33634318] balance but in your case that does not seem to be the case. With a 5 mEq/l [acronym:5b33634318="Alkinity"]alk[/acronym:5b33634318] though the calcium should be about 460 [acronym:5b33634318="Parts per Million"]ppm[/acronym:5b33634318] but that still would not have caused the problem.
