Looks like a bleached (maybe, never seen a stark white one) Goniopora sp.. Read up on care of these corals. They are quite hard to care for and don't fair as well in captivity, although there success is improving in the past years.

I thought it may have been that but after checking it is a cup coral (Turbinaria peltata) the pictures look funny but it is bright yellow.

Looks very much like a goniopora.

Can you take another pic of it when the polyps are retracted?

yes, I can get a pic of it retracted, probably when the lights go out. I have been looking and the 2 look very similar. I wish I could get a pic that shows the color better as well.
the more I look the more i think it is. well after going through some pics and info Im almost positive that it is. so much for impulse buying corals.

hmmm looks like a gonipora to me as well. a very bleached gonipora.
