I took these pics right after I was done putting the wood & plants in so the water was a bit cloudy, obviously.

Won some cherry shrimp on Aquabid last night so those will be here soon. I also want to add some black forest & bumble bee shrimp.

Going to add a couple fish, but still have not decided which ones so suggestions are welcome. :proud:

The wood is African rootwood (have a piece for sale since I bought too much), plants consists of Cabomba, Java Fern, moss ball & Anacharis. Added some Eco-Complete substrate to the Fluval shrimp substrate.

Added a Fluval heater.

Is anyone running the carbon insert in their Ebi? Curious as to whether or not that's going to be worth adding or if the foam will suffice.

If you aren't already, don't plant the rhizome (thick green part where the leaves come from) of the java fern in. The rhizome should be in contact with the open water. I just wrap a plant weight around the rhizome if I want it on the surface of the substrate.

Man Im glad to see one of these. I want one so bad. Keep the pics and updates coming!

Nice.

The Cherries are a good choice for a few months at least. The other guys are temperamental when it comes to KH and even a little nitrate.

Thanks for posting.

I bought a Fluval Edge to make a shrimp tank out of. I had to goose up the lights. It does not have the Quality the EBI does. Well,,,,Now it does! :O)

Heater for the Fluval Edge will work in your tank. It is set for 78deg F. It is a 25 watt heater. You need 3-5 watts per gallon. It is a very small heater. A betta will swim more if he is not cold.

Fluval Edge 25W Compact Heater
Required for tropical fish setups. The automatic Fluval aquarium heater boasts unbreakable polymer construction and features a LED running lamp. Compact, safe and submersible heater is preset to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. Requires no adjustments. Fluval Edge 25W Compact Heater measures 6-1/2".

Added some RCS, 3 Cardinal Tetras, 3 Cherry Barbs & a couple more plants this weekend. Was tempted to buy a couple red crystal shrimp @ the LFS, but at $9 each, I'll see how the RCS do w/the fish first.

great looking tank! Maybe I missed it... what kind of light does it have on it, and are you dosing any ferts?

Thanks. Just the stock 13w bulb it came with. No dosing. Just the Fluval shrimp substrate and eco-complete.

I added a dwarf gourami & some sunkist shrimp yesterday. Unfortunately, the gourami proceeded to eat at least 1 of my RCS so I gave him away. I'm going to add a couple more cardinal tetras & perhaps a cory & call it a day outside of more shrimp.
