Aquarium Advice Addict
I was intrigued by the Frag Pack offered by Pacific East Aquaculture which includes 6 acros and 6 other hard corals for $124.99. That's just over $10 per frag. I'm also in UPS Zone 1 so shipping is only 15.99, though I did have to pick it up at the UPS customer center. They also add a $10.00 box charge. Still, gotta say I'm impressed!
The box actually had a carrying handle. Otherwise it was packed as I would expect from any quality retailer. The inside was double bagged, with a styrofoam container inside the first plastic bag.
The coral frags were all double bagged, some triple bagged. Each outer bag had the type of coral contained and a number. The numbers range from 1 - 4 and represent how much light the coral should get. A very nice touch.
No more checking books, just look at the included chart for which coral goes where in the tank: to the bottom (4); bottom-center (3 - 4) ; center (3) ; center-top (2), or top (1).
All the frags are normal size of 1½" - 2" and healthy. About half were mounted on plugs. The others were loose in the bag. I normally remove corals from the plugs and attach directly to the rock anyway.
I did my normal 3 part process of a dip in Revive, followed by a bath in CoralRX, followed by a batch in tank water (outside of the tank). Then a careful inspection of each coral and plug which uncovered one small bubble of bubble algae.
Enough talk, time for the pictures.
