New lights

Got my new set of VHO`s today so I now have 4 bulbs running. I have the actinic coming on at 9 AM and the 50/50 at 10 AM. The 50/50 will cut off at 8 PM and actinic at 9 PM. I might have to modify that the first few weeks so as to acclimate them to my tank. I also got me a squamosa Clam. I`ll have some pics tomorrow.

That clam looks very happy What kind of clam is it? Looks like you lost a little of the purple but IMO it looks much sharper Mike.

Never mind That is one of the best clams I've seen in awhile, was that from a lfs or online?

Sorry Micah I took that pic with the actinic lights off. LOL. Here are some pics with all 4 bulbs on. Sorry, I love the blue look. And BTW that is a squamosa clam. And I bought it from the LFS.

Wow Mike, I still think it's not as blue but that is just amazing What brand of lights are they and if you don't mind telling how much money were they.

The more I see VHO the more I want to switch from my 260W PC Coralife lights. I've read that VHO is slightly more intensive then PC lighting so what wattage would I need to maintain the medium light corals I have now?

Those are URI bulbs . They have internal reflectors in them and I have that reflective dome on top. The light system is just something the LFS made up. No brand name. He charged me 250 dollars for 2 bulbs, ballast, endcaps and wiring. I had already one set. I`ve put the actinic on one ballast and the 50/50 on the other set.

Yeah, you'll have to see the 2000G tank but the 1200 G one looks more mature.

160 watt bulbs X 4 = 640 divided by 125 gallons = 5.12 WPG.
