I picked up a snowball Pleco and I was wondering if there's anything I should know about them.
I know I should have asked before I bought it, but I saw it and couldn't resist.
I have a couple butterfly Plecos so I have some experience.
This is my first fancy Pleco.

Well, here's some basics:
*Grows up to to 6.8" long but some sources say it has potential to reach 12"
*30 gallons is fine for a one that reaches 6", but 55 gallons is often recommended as minimum tank size in case it grows larger
*lives approximately 12 years
*It comes from the largest black water river in the world!
*Does best in soft and acidic water
*will do fine with a pH-value from 5.8 to 7.6 but some resources say 6.4-7.8
*Feed it a combination of meaty foods and algae based foods
*It is not a very good algae eater
*would appreciate caves and roots for hiding spots
*appreciates a strong current but will do fine without
*Water quality should be good with plenty of oxygen.
*Non-aggressive and can be combine with other peaceful species, but can be territorial with other bottom dwelling species

Very nice, thank you.
I'm hoping it won't grow to 12 inches. I do have it on a 50 gallon with my Cories though.

I see you live in Minnesota and so do I... where did you get his beautiful pleco? I'd be interested in one as well. :D

Here are some bad pictures from my iPod. As I said it is very small. The last picture is next to some Cories.
