I was at my lfs looking to bulk up the stock on my pond, so I went to the feeders section. Since he gets new fish every tues and thurs, mon is always the best day to go because you know the feeders have been there and living for at least 3 or 4 days. When I got to the small goldfish, I saw a few oddballs which I am pretty sure are mosquito fish. I bought all 4 I could find, and they are now happily living in my pond.

Does anyone know how common it is for mosquitofish, or at least something else that is definately not a goldfish or fathead minnow, to end up with the other feeders?

RogerMcAllen....

It is VERY common for other fish to get mixed in with feeders. I often see Gambusia and various species of sunfish in tanks of feeder goldfish. They breed most of these feeders in outdoor pools so native species like these frequently get scooped up with the goldfish.
