I have a 55gal tank with lots of wood, hiding spaces and it is moderately planted.

I currently have:
3 medium angel fish
3 red tail botia
1 zanwa wood catfish
5 amanno shrimp
5 lemon yellow tetras
5 rummy nose tetras
1 opaline gourami
1 pearl gourami
1 gold gourami

I am considering getting rid of a couple fish to make room for something interesting, but am set on keeping my angels.

Any suggestions?

Nothing, you are looking kinda full. You also might start having some problems with the gourami's, they tend not to be that nice with each other and scene you have three of the big ones they might start too fight.

Personally, after taking out the loaches and two of the gouramies, I'd add a group of 7 or so cories and call it stocked.

i would get rid of some fish and add a male apistogramma cacatuoides. a very beautiful fish thats full of personality.

If you go with the Apistogramma Cacatuoides i would get a proven pair, that way they might breed and they will be happier this way. This advice also goes with German Blue Rams.
