Think my Java Moss is dead?

I'm new to Java moss. I recently bought some at my local pet store. When I opened up the cup. It was brown. I put it in my tank but it has not turned green. I asked the pet store and they said it will turn green. Some how I just don't believe it. Oh and they said they won't be getting any new shipment for a few weeks. So any advice is it dead or will it turn green ?

I'm not sure on Java Moss. I've had plants die off or look pretty bad for a week or so before they adjust to new tank conditions. Fingers crossed on yours
