Question Wood for Tank, help me choose....

Which side should I have facing the front? I like them both and can't decide...

I would go with pic 2. It seems to have more character than pic 1.

Is that a hollow or a knot in pict one? If a hollow, I'd rather have it facing the front, so I can see the critters hiding inside. Otherwise, #2 looks nicer.

#1!! I love that knot in the wood and you can see the critters "playing" easier.
