If I have a 10g tank with nothing but snails and hermit crabs, would the same amount of water changes need to applied as that for fish? Or do they have a tiny bio load? Of course I would test water weekly and will eventually find this out on my own, but just wanted to know if anyone has had any exp in this and know the bio load of a hermit crab and snails compared to say a clown fish. Example: 20 hermit crabs to every 4" clownfish...

No matter what stock I have in a tank, I do water changes every week. One of my tens only has a hermit crab and frogspawn in it, and I do a 2g water change every week.

Nitrates can still build up, and even with just inverts they create some kind of waste.

Bottom line is, I do water changes every week no matter what. Those are just my maintenance habits though.
