Acclimating agressive or similar fish
So i just finished reading a thread about someone trying to acclimate a yellow tang and a purple tang. Because of the similar body shape the fish were fighting. Not at all an uncommon story with fish across the board. It is almost always a good bet that similar fish will fight with each other.
A while back i was reading about breeding marine fish and the author of the book was having similar problems with some species of fish even if they were male and female while he was trying to establish a mated pair. To help with this he would put up a barrier or breeder net for the smaller fish to run to. He said the barrier helps the fish to work out their aggression towards each other with out doing physical damage. The fish being in visual contact with each other was enough for them to get used to the new situation safely. Eventually the barrier was removed and the fish would co-exist with relatively little fighting.
Has anyone ever tried this or had any experience with a similar method?
