Accuracy in Ammonia testing kits

Hello all,
I've recently switched to saltwater from freshwater. Truly because I always wanted Clownfish. I admit I was intimidated at first but I love those little Mocha perculas. I stared testing with both Salifert and API. The results have widely varied. While API shows about or just under 1.00 , Salifert is under .25. So with that said both test kits are brand new and still well within the expiration dates. What gives? Does anyone else have experience with these chemicals. Oh ps my water is RO/ DI. The other perimeters are 8.1 Ph , salinity 1020.5 water temp 77 f. Thanks to all

Salfert tests are much more accurate than API, no matter what they are testing.

While widely used by fish shops, I have seen different API tests give different results.
