added new rock now all of it is turning brown

i just added about 20 more pounds of live rock to my 45 gallon tank and i added a new T5 lighting fixture 14 watts and i noticed all my rock is turning brown, like a dusty brown look to it, what is this? will it go away? should i do anything about it

Diatoms. All new tanks get it and it will go away.

how long would you say untill it goes away? i ask just because the tank has been running for about 4 months now and the previous light was just a basic t8 50/50 17 watt bulb and the diatoms in it was very minimal but now with the new t5 light the diatoms are covering all the rock which is fine if they will go away. just want to make sure im doing everything correctly also i change about 10 percent of the water every saturday

They'll burn away. Could be a week. Could be 2-3. Dunno, but they will leave. How long are your lights on during the day?

i keep my t5 lights on from 9-6 and htne moonlights on from 6-12 i dont think the moon lights matter tho its just an led strip
