Air compressors and FOWLR tanks

Is it a good or bad idea to use an air compressor to bubble air through your tank? It would add oxygen to the tank. If done well, it can add a lot of interest to a tank. Why don't people do this? Or, if they are why isn't it talked as a method of adding oxygen to the water?

Thanks,
Phil

I dont do this because of the saltcreep that this will cause. The airbubles bursting at the surface will splash water all over the place and as this evaporates the salt and other minerals that are left behind form the white crusty salt creep.

The aircurtins dont really add that much air to the water directly but more or less help aid the gas exchange at the surface by giving the surface movement. A skimmer would be much more effective at oxygenating the water.
