Anyone know what these are?

We picked up this live rock in the Gulf of Mexico......It has been in a tank with no fish for a couple of weeks. Only snails and anemones we also brought back. We are baffled, anyone know? Click image for larger version

What are you referring to on this picture as to me there appears to be a lot of life!

They remind be of mosquito eggs but that can't be it.
