My tank had been running for 9 months now and the live rock is ok but all the base rock I have in my tank has gotten like a very dark green coating over it. Any ideas what this and what can be done about it?

Do you have any coralline growing on your glass? It could be green coralline or it could be green microalgae. Either way it is probably not bad unless it looks hairy or feathery. A picture might help but it just sounds like the base rock is becoming live.

Yeah I have coraline on my live rock, just this like slimy dark green almost black coating on the base rock. I'm not sure but it doesn't look like an algae as it doesn't move like hair algae I've seen on the net, just like a nasty coating of something.

Probably cyanobacteria...
