Do you find this hobby easy since you're a microbiologist?

No. I think how you approach it can make it easier or extremely difficult. Just because I know how bugs grow, it doesn't give me an advantage on keeping fish alive. I research a lot, have a great lfs, read the threads on here, and never assume I have all the answers. And I would say patience makes you more successful at this than being a microbiologist. You are going about it the right way. Just keep researching and asking questions.
