Is there any benefit in using carbon in my FOWLR TANK canister filter.

Carbon is good for removing any odors or any water discoloration. It also can remove some impurities as well. I run it on rare occassion, just to polish up the water. But as for everyday use, I wouldnt recommend it, it only lasts a few weeks at most and can get expensive.

I have a mix of many different saltwater fish amongst my tanks, but I love my Tangs most of all.

+1. it does an AMAZING job polishing the water, but as Carey mentioned, it burns out pretty quickly so it can get rather expensive to keep replacing it ev ery few week.

It can also help with inter species conflicts amongst certain corals.
