What is the best way to change my substrate I have several hermit crabs Roughly 20 A few fish Couple snails And some Live rock I currently have crushed seashells I'm going to sand I do not have a backup tank to put my stuff into Does anybody have any ideas

I cut all my jets/power heads. Used my daughters beach shovel and carefully pulled it out. Then I used the time to do a water and vacuumed the glass as best I could. Then after rinsing my finely crushed coral I placed it to one side of my tank and gently moved it around the bottom.

You might get a little cloudiness but you should be alright. I did this to my 55 gallon with no adverse affects.

Good luck

Just take your time getting it out and cut all your flow to minimize the "kick up". Should prolly take you a couple of ours, but so worth it.

Looks nice. Finely crushed or sand will really set it off. Although, black sand would really set that bad boy off :)
