what inverts would you include to keep a 33gal clean of algae?

I'd add maybe 15 astrea snails, and 15 blue legged hermits. If they don't seem to be getting the job done, then add more as you go a few at a time.

What about pistol or peppermint shrimp? I hear they go great with a yellow watchman. Would inverts add much to your bioload?

No, inverts don't effect your bioload very much. Pistol shrimp and peppermint shrimp are great. I'd say one pistol and maybe a group of 3-5 peppermint shrimp would be good for cleaning up excess food.

Yes because they are preforming different function. The snails are gonna clean algae. The shrimp will clean up left over food. The hermits will do a bit of both.
