Hello all,
this is just an update. I am now beginning construction on a custom built saltwater aquarium that is being manufactured by Living Color Aquariums, all the way from Florida. The tank is for my Hippo Tang, as well as for my other fish. HEY, TO ALL THE TANG POLICE, THE TANG WILL BE IN MY 20 GALLON LONG UNTIL CONSTRUCTION OF THE 300 GALLON IS COMPLETED, WHICH IS IN ANOTHER 6 MONTHS, SO DON'T ARREST ME YET, LOL. The 300 Gallon is costing me $65,000, which they include a giant filter, and fake artificial coral. The tank is made out of alyric glass, which is more flexible than regular glass.

6 months? That's a long wait..

If they're charging you $65,000 for a 300g tank, you're getting ripped off big time. I hope that was a typo, and they're charging you $6,500

Sadly with Living Color, 65k may be a possibility. their artificial corals are WAY overpriced. as are their acrylic tanks. They seem to pray on the rich for "classy" home tanks.

944$ for a 3 foot hunk of rock with a few fake corals on it. Yowza.

Today, we tore off part of the roof because it is slopped and the aquarium is going to connect with the ceiling. No, that was not a typo, it is 65,000. This includes everything, but the fish. The filter is coming in about 3 weeks. The coral came today, and shipped free. The coral looks really nice and realistic. Yes, I know 65,000 is a little overpriced, but I rather go to sleep at night, knowing that the same company that designed and built aquariums at the Rainforest cafe, is building an aquarium in my home. That's the very reason why I am having Living Color build it.

oh so thats everything like the rock sand filters etc pretty much everything you need?>

65K for a 300g tank... I clearly need to be in the business of charging people to build tanks for them. With the profit I could make from this one job, I could build 10 of the same in my house.

Does the $65K include installing the tank in your house once you have the foundation & framing in place? Rainforest cafe does have some cool tanks and I'm guessing the tank will be viewed from all sides?

whatever the case is you better update us with pictures lol

Living color is a good company. Some of their corals are realistic looking, and I think it's neat how the whole rock + coral setup is also filtration. (well behind it) 65k is pricey though.

$65k? I don't understand that at all. Nineball's 1350 gallon with the most amazing corals I have ever seen cost ~120k including all of the livestock.

At least the tanks are pretty much as good as it gets.

It probably wasn't built by living color

Unfortunately, being built by living color doesn't inherently make it worth more money if the procedure is the same. This is 300 gallons, it's not going to create a sinkhole under the house if not done exactly the same way some company does it. Specialist engineers don't need to be brought in to install a waterbed is all I'm saying.

Yes, but living color includes everything. It includes some of the best live sand imported from Fiji. It includes beautiful artificial coral. It includes a giant, powerful filter that can filter half of an Olympic sized swimming pool. Living Color makes the aquarium look as if it's apart of your house. They have beautiful granite that makes the aquarium look like a living piece of art. Living Color is quite an amazing Custom Aquarium Building Company.
