Ok thanks! So should I be doing any water changes at all now during the cycle, or only at the nitrate stage?

Only when there is not ammonia no nitrites and just nitrates.

Ok guys! Finally got a nitrAte reading! It's at 20 ppm... What's ideal level to keep it below for fish to be happy in?

The lower the better, but I'd shoot for 10ppm or lower. 20 is "ok".
