My mom just started a saltwater tank yesterday and she has a 3 striped damsel and he is acting weird and not eating. Do you think he needs a tank mate?

The tank isn't cycled is it? He's suffering from the ammonia and then he'll suffer through nitrites. He might live. Make sure to do lot of testing and WC anytime any level gets remotely high. Don't add another fish till it's cycled. How much LR and LS does the tank have? And what size tank?

Okay look up, fish in cycling. That should help your chances of the damsel surviving. Good luck. It's best to do a fishless cycle then add the damsel.
