We got a dog face puffer without knowing how big he was going to get. We just set up a 26 gallon and planned on putting him in there with a box puffer. Before we even got home from the pet store, our box started showing signs of a fungal infection, and he died before we acclimated the dog face. Without knowing the cause of the infection, we put the dog face (Pongo) in our 90 gallon reef tank. We want to put him back in the 26 gal FOWLR, but in researching the safety of doing so I've discovered that it's too small. He's already eaten some mushroom coral and zoanthas, so we want to get him out before he hones in on something else. We can get him a bigger tank at some point, but how long can he stay in the little one? He's about 4-5 inches now.

He is not going to last long in that small a tank. If you can't set up a home for him within a month or so I would re-home it. Just so you know it's recommended 150g for the dog face and 180g for the box puffer (assuming its the spiny box puffer?) awesome fish tho! Pics?
