Dumb question about snails

do turbo snails create their own shells or do they pick them up like hermit crabs?

Just curious since there seems to be some hanky panky going on between the snails and I have 3 little slugs running around.'

I agree. The shell grows with them.

Yep, snails create their own shells...but hermit crabs will kill the snail and steal the shell if you don't have extra, larger, empty shells in the tank for them.
snails can't survive without their shells. So if you see slugs, they aren't shell-less snails.
