Ehime 2217 cleaning

I have a 75 gl fowler with a ehime 2217 i have had it running for about 10 months . My question is when is it time to clean an how ?

Pull out your media one layer at a time and rinse out your sponges in tank water and put it back together.

The same media, the only media you should have to replace is the sponges only if they are starting to fall apart.
