Yeah I'm aware of that one too lol I always shake my nitrate bottles... but that still doesn't explain why my nitrItes went from .50ppm to 0ppm overnight with no water change

The bacteria breaking them down could have done it easily...... But you would have more trates not less. That's really weird.

Yeah I don't understand it at all.. I just put another shrimp in there.. guess I'll test again either later tonight or tomorrow morning and see what happens

I've only seen that happen in tanks with lots of rock and a DSB. These tests aren't always 100% on. After a few more days you may see different results. Still, you're doing it right!

I went out n bought the API saltwater test kit and I actually got different results!

HR pH 7.8-8.0
Ammonia .50ppm
Nitrite 0-.25ppm
Nitrates 5ppm

I held the 2 test cards up to each other and the shades are slightly different.

I know that I posted this in the Fowlr section but since then I have been reading up on doing corals when my tanks all ready lol I started a thread in nano reefs if you care to join in
