Getting ready

Getting ready to start my s.w tank .i have salt rite .ph rite .only had it running for 3days .fish store I go to tell me I can stock now .i hear about cycling don't really understand it to much I be had feel tanks in the past first attempt to go sw should I stock now or wait any advise don't want to put fish in and kill them

Wait, it's not cycled after 3 days.

Look up the nitrogen cycle. You'll need to add an ammonia source to kick start the cycle. You can put a piece of raw fish or table shrimp in the tank and let it rot (I suggest putting it in a cut off and tied pantyhose first so it doesn't float all o ER the place). If you don't already have one, you'll need a master test kit. Test for ammo is, nitrite and nitrate. When you see ammo and nitrites go up and back to zero and nitrates are present, then you're cycled. That's when you can add fish. Putting fish in now will likely end in the fish's death. Thank you for answering my question how long does the cycle take I have a 75 gallon with about 35pounds of live rock I know i need more

Up to 8 weeks. This stage in a saltwater aquarium is vital as exposing fish or corals to a cycling fish tank could kill it.
