Does anyone run a reactor directly off their tank and not off a sump? I'm trying to figure out if I did this, if a MJ1200 would have enough power to push the water all the way through the loop and back into the tank if the reactor was stored underneath the tank...

You might need a bigger pump b/c of the head pressure. Most of the reactors come with the mj1200, but that is at 0 head pressure. I'd go larger and see if you can use a valve to adjust the flow if you need to.
