Any Mandarin is a fish that should be left up to the experienced with a very established tank. They require a diet of copepods and amphipods as well as other micro organisms within the rock and sand.. I am not implying that you are a novice with a new tank, just letting you know what they require. If you do have a well established environment and can supply it with enough food so as not to starve, then they make great tank mates for a peaceful setup. They are very mild mannered fish and look cool the way they hover over the rocks and pick at it..

Thanks for the advice, i'm new to the marine hobby. I'd rather get good info than have dead fish.

yes a great copepod colony should be present whenever getting one of these. It may eat frozen and it may not. Some peopls's never eat frozen while others only get ones that eat frozen.
look around on here if your interested still and you should find thousands of other topics like this one.
