Hello everyone out there., I have a question about this preticular fish

(well eel I guess). I was wondering if I could keep one of these in my 100

gallon FOWLR. The fish that will be going in will be about 4" in size nothing

smaller, the smallest fish being mandarin dragonets and a file fish. I am

going to go with one of these if I can...but if not suggest me an eel that I

could keep with these fish. Thanks a million in advance and happy fish

keeping :D

I really want an eel and yeah dont worry I figured that I couldn't keep my

mandarin if I had one. People say this eel would go well even with

smaller fish thats why im asking. But as the way that things are going if I

keep any eel it would probibly be a ribbon eel (even though they are hard

to get eating). Anyone else?

Pass on the ribbon eel, IMO one of the creatures that needs to be left in the Ocean.

IMO a mandarin and other small fish should be fine in a tank with a SFE and ZE. They are not a fish eatting eel. Will they eat one if hungry, yes.. But they are not going to be picking off the fish on a regular basis if at all. I have a SFE and it never bothers any small fish in the tank.

i have crabs said:
throw in a couple goldfish and see if your snowflake will eat smaller fish

Why would you want to do that to goldfish? Seems harsh and unnecessary. It's true snowflakes are generally crustacean eaters and don't really pose much threat to your fish if kept well fed. The zebra eel even less so. The zebra is much more suited to a community enviroment as long as it has plenty of room. This is a sizable eel.

Well thank you those are awnsers I am looking for. I would rather have a

zebra moray eel as far as the 2 eels go. And when we are talking about

feeding we are looking at 2-3 good feeding times a week, or should that

be changed? And it will most definitly be one of the last fish introduced!

I feed my eels as much as they will eat 3, sometimes 4 times a week. This keeps them from being overly hungry for long periods and they don't gorge at each feeding. You'll get into a routine though and know what's right for your eel. Good luck.

Alright sounds good a zebra moray eel it is, I just hope he will do well in

my 100 gallon. Does anyone else have one? and what size of tank is he

in?
