Hermit Crabs

I was wondering if the Paguristes frontalis(Common Hermit Crab) is able to live in a saltwater tank. My son has two and was wondering if he could put them in the tank, along with a couple other hermits that are in the tank.

They need to be able to reach the surface regularly also don't they?
Do you have a ledge they can climb onto?

I am not sure if they need to come out of the water or not. There is not a ledge for them to crawl to. The hermits that are in the tank already are the Scarlet Legged species, which stay on the bottom eating.

I don't know about this species, never heard of it before. A quick google search shows they are native to Australia (going to guess that is where you are from). They should be fine in the tank from what I read.

No, I am not from down under, live in the US. But I did read where they live in intertidal waterways. Just have not seen if they can live all the time underwater.
