Hermit shells

Do Dwarf Red Tip Hermit Crabs prefer shells that have ovoid openings and what kinda if size openings will I be looking to get, as I want to buy some spare shells so they don't attack my snails for there shells?

I find my blue and red tipped hermits prefer cerinth type shells. None of mine have taken up in any pyramid type shells.
