high nitrates

My nitrates are high and ive been missing a firefish for about 2 days.... Could they be corelated?

What is the safest level of nitrates for a FOWLR?

Zero is the safest. Incidentally what are your nitrates readings?

Don't rule out the fire fish. They love rocks and ours is excellent at hide and seek.

0-40PPM is the acceptable range

Are you use'n test strips or test kits? If you don't have the kit I recommend get'n a one that has everything. Or get the basic single sets of Amonia , Nitrate, Nitrite, Ph, Calcium and Kh. You want to be as close to zero on you're Nitrates, Nitrites and Ammonia.

We r using a test kit... An API saltwater master test kit...

The nitrates are reading uowards of 40 ppm. But not more than 80 ppm.

you need to start doing PWC to lower it then. prob a pretty high one too to bring down the level fast
